Fabric & Colour Options
If you're ordering a custom bag, there are assigned colour panels for which you can specify your own colours from the swatches below.
Paper Roads' fabrics are sourced from Challenge Sailcloth (with a few options from Dimension Polyant). The Ecopak range is woven with recycled polyester derived from plastic bottles.
Ecopak EPX200
-
- EPX200 fabrics perform well all-round on bikepacking bags and won't be used in high-abrasion areas.
- DWR (C0) coated which causes water to bead up, and is backed with a woven ripstop face. Water will penetrate after an amount of rain.
-
- You can mix EPX200 and EPLX400 fabrics together in the one bag.
- Less structural & less abrasion resistant than EPLX400.
- Perfectly fine for bags where you're given the option to assign fabrics/colours to each panel.
Dimension-Polyant X-pac
-
- These X-pac VX fabrics are a similar grade to the EPX200 fabrics, from a different brand.
- Note: VX07 is even lighter, only choose for small areas or highlights.
-
- You can mix X-pac fabrics with EPX200 and EPLX400 fabrics
Ecopak EPLX400
-
- EPLX400 fabrics are film laminated on the reverse side, which makes it impossible for water to get through.
- Good abrasion resistance rating
- Slightly stiffer feel than EPX200 but still an ultralight fabric
-
- You can mix EPX200 and EPLX400 fabrics together in the one bag.
- Highly recommended, you get the best of both worlds with EPLX400.
Specialty Fabrics
The fabrics below may/will incur a surcharge unless the price is already specified for the option. These fabrics suit either people with don't care for weight, or people on a mission to save grams.
Ecopak EPLX600
-
- EPLX600 fabrics are film laminated on the reverse side, which makes it impossible for water to get through.
- Same abrasion resistance rating as EPLX400
- Stiff feel like card/canvas & heavy. Not ultralight.
-
- ONLY COMBINE with EPLX400 if you have to.
- There will be a small surcharge for EPLX600 for larger Framebags
- If you're extremely rough with gear, consider choosing EPLX600.
ULTRA
-
- ULTRA is a UHMWPE and high tenacity polyester blend - often known as Dyneema, for its strength to weight ratio. It's the ultimate ultralight fabric.
- Choosing Ultra fabrics is a premium upgrade and will incur a surcharge for all bags. For XL Framebags, expect up to $40 extra if used for the whole bag.
- Use ULTRA for your whole bag, for the best weight-saving results & durability.
-
- Can be combined with EPX200 & EPLX400 (unless specified), but NOT EPLX600.
- Ultra 200X has similar abrasion resistance as EPLX400 but much lighter. ULTRA 400X has twice the abrasion resistance as Ultra 200X.
- Ultra 200X has a much finer, tighter weave and looks very 'class'.
- These fabrics have a natural wrinkled/creased look.
